So just what are God’s attributes? I think we all want to know more about who is God, what is He like, and what kind of God is He? Any attribute of God is something that is true about Him. For us to fully comprehending who God is well... impossible for us as limited beings, but God does make Himself known in a variety of ways, one is through what He reveals about Himself in His Word and in His creation. God is unlike anything or anyone we could ever know or imagine. But if we make the effort, we can begin to wrap our minds around just how awesome our Creator and our God is.
Scripture never singles out one of God’s attributes as more important than the rest. For example, “God is light” (1 John 1:5) and “God is love” (1 John 4:8). He is not part light and part love; He is not love during the day and light at night. He is, at all times and in all ways, both light and love. Each one of God’s attributes qualifies each other attribute.
Each of God’s attributes represents one aspect of His character; they each provide us with a perspective on who he is. And they also provide us with some perspective on who He has made us to be.
God’s has communicable attributes and incommunicable attributes. God’s communicable attributes are those that can be transferred to His creatures. incommunicable attribute is one that cannot be transferred. God’s incommunicable attributes, therefore, cannot be attributes of human beings.
Even God cannot communicate certain characteristics of His being to us or His created creatures. People ask whether it is possible for God to create another god, and the answer is no. If God were to create another god, the result would be a creature, which, by definition, would lack the necessary attributes that describe God, such as independence, eternality, and immutability.
The distinction between God’s communicable and incommunicable attributes is important because it helps us come to a clear understanding of the difference between God and any creature. No creature can ever possess an incommunicable attribute of almighty God. Eventually cult leaders tend to claim or insinuate to have power, position and authority that is exclusively godlike. They not only claim to speak for God, but they believe and teach their followers that disobeying the leader is equivalent to disobeying God. Matthew 24:24 speaks of the rise in false christs or false messiahs. Don't drink the cool aid.
Here is a list of some of God's attributes.
1. God Is Infinite – He is Self-Existing, Without Origin
