Since the Bible is God's Word, studying it is a way to know God better. Through His words we come to know not only the nature and attributes of God, but we also come to understand His plan for each of us. In a larger sense, we also come to know God's plan in history, His sovereignty, His providence, His love and more. There is only so much we can learn about God apart from the Bible. But with it we can know God better.
Studying the Bible also helps us avoid theological error. The Bible tells us, "Watch your life and doctrine closely" (1 Timothy 4:16), adding that we "must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine" (Titus 2:1). If the Bible is our authority for faith and life, then the inspired words it contains will help us to avoid error. In a pluralistic world with many religious and non-religious ideas competing for attention, studying the Bible provides us with a firm foundation in God's truth rather than the errors of the world. Knowing the Bible also helps us respond to error and answer questions that skeptics and others may have about it.

The Bible, in its entirety, has no mistakes. Specifically, in its original autographs it is without errors. In Psalm 19:7 the Bible says of itself, “The law of the Lord is perfect.” It is flawless because it was authored by God—and He is flawless.
Therefore, if God wrote the Bible, and if He is the ultimate authority, and if His character is flawless, then the Bible is flawless and is the ultimate authority. You see, the fact that God is perfect demands that the original autograph, the original giving of the Word of God, must also be perfect. So, the Bible is infallible, and that’s the first reason to study it; it is the only Book that never makes a mistake—everything it says is the truth.

Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God Matthew 4:4
Jesus is both the Living Word and the written Word of God. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God.(John 1:1) The Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His Glory(John 1:14)The Eternal Word who was God became personified in the person of Jesus. He became the Living breathing Word of God Incarnate. David said this revealing thing regarding the exaltation of Gods Word above His name. Ps 138:2- I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
Here we have a Messianic prophecy regarding Jesus in Hebrews,
Heb 10:5-7 Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, "SACRIFICE AND OFFERING YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED, BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME ; 6IN WHOLE BURNT OFFERINGS AND sacrifices FOR SIN YOU HAVE TAKEN NO PLEASURE . 7 "THEN I SAID, 'BEHOLD, I HAVE COME (IN THE SCROLL OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME) TO DO YOUR WILL , O GOD.'"
Now lets look at what Jesus(The Word Incarnate) said regarding Himself in the scriptures to His disciples,
Luke 24:25-27 25 And He said to them, "O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26"Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?" 27Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.
Luke 24:44-50 44 Now He said to them, "These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." 45Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46and He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48"You are witnesses of these things. 49"And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."
John 5:39-40 39 "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; 40 and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.
We can see that the entire bible and the person of Jesus are so bound together that if you do not see Jesus in all of it then you are missing Gods message to you. The written Word is the living Word. Christ is the very cornerstone on which scripture is found upon. He is that solid Rock and the foundation of faith. The bible is Christ portrayed and the scriptures are the fulfillment of Jesus Himself. This is why John and Jesus in the last written book of the bible could proclaim He is the Alpha and the Omega the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.
Heb 4:12-13 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Jesus is the light of the world - Johns gospel
Ps 119:105 our word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
Ps 119:130 The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.
Jesus is the source of life - Johns gospel
Prov 4:20-23 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them And health to all their body. 23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.
The Word who was God became Incarnate in the Person of Jesus who is the living Word of God.
hope this helps !!!

Why study God's Word....
First, it's incumbent on the followers of Jesus to "study to show ourselves approved, rightly dividing the truth."
2Ti 2:15 WEB Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.
Then, in Matthew 13:52, Jesus said to the disciples,
Mat 13:52 WEB He said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been made a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings out of his treasure new and old things.”
We then read in Hosea 4:6
Hos 4:6 WEB My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God’s law, I will also forget your children.
This is perhaps the most important part of why we should read God's Word on a daily basis.
On the other OP regarding wearing the full armor of God, this is the reason.
We're walking through a life we've never experienced before. We need the power and truth of God to guide, and direct us, as though we are walking through a mine field.
This is also why we need to learn to trust God with all our hearts and not to lean on our own understanding.
Pro 3:6-8 WEB 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones.
It's important to learn God's Word so we can walk through this life in as godly a manner as possible.

Where is real truth?
The writer Franz Kafka gave a great illustration about education. He pictured a bombed-out city where all that was left was rubble. Everywhere there were people bleeding and dying; there was smoke and smoldering fire—just total rubble. But in the middle of the city was an ivory tower piercing the sky, pristine white, untouched by any bombs. Then, there was this solitary figure winding his way through the rubble. When he got to the tall white building, he walked in and went up to the top story. He came to a dark hall, and at the end of it was a little light. He walked in the darkness until he came to the light, he turned, and walked into a bathroom. inside sat a man with a fishing pole, fishing in the bathtub. The solitary stranger said to him, “Hey, what are you doing?”
The man said, “I’m fishing.”
The stranger looked in the bathtub and said, “There’s no fish in the bathtub and there’s no water.”
The man said, “I know,” and kept on fishing.
Kafka said, “That is higher education.”
You see, man has lost the truth.
It’s fantastic to realize, and sometimes I think we forget it, that every time we pick up the Bible, we pick up the truth. What a tremendous legacy we have. But we can’t take it for granted, and we certainly can’t let it just sit around. So the first reason that I believe we need to study the Word of God is because it is the source of truth. Jesus said, “If ye continue in my word … ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31b).

Does that mean anything in scripture that isn't a quote of God's or Jesus' own words is not God's word? Paul says women can't speak when they are in a church. Women are constantly working in my church. How can they do that if they can't speak? Great question. How are 1 Corinthians 13: with 1 Corinthians 11:5 to be reconciled? Has the matter of how a woman might pray or prophesy in church without speaking in church been considered? 1 Corinthians 11:5But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying disgraces her head, for it is one and the same as the woman whose head is shaved.1 Corinthians 14:34...the women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. There appears to be a contradiction. On one hand Paul implicitly affirms the existence of women praying and prophesying in church, but within the same letter he says women shouldn't speak. Were there silent prayers and prophecies? Or how is the matter of female apostles handled? Priscilla and Junia were apostles. Priscilla and her husband, Aquila are mentioned four times in the New Testament and three of the four occasions she is mentioned first, indicating she has some form of significance over her husband because it went against the convention of Paul's day to mention the wife first. Do you think the female apostles never spoke in church? According to Paul apostles were given by Christ himself for the purposes of... Ephesians 4:11-16 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. How were Priscilla and Junia were able to equip the saints, or speak the truth without speaking in church? Is it good practice to take one single verse, remove it from its inherent context, ignore all else that the Bible says on the matter and prohibitively define what half of the church can and cannot do based on that one verse? Has the reality such a policy would preclude women like Miriam, Deborah, and the Proverbs 31 woman from being Miriam, Deborah, and the Proverbs 31 woman? Judges 4:4-54Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 5She used to sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the sons of Israel went up to her for judgment. Proverbs 31:21-2921She is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22She makes coverings for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple. 23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. 24She makes linen garments and sells them and supplies belts to the tradesmen. 25Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. 26She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the [q]teaching of kindness is on her tongue. 27She watches over the activities of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying: 29“Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all.”The New Testament's use of the word "church" is never about a building. There were no church buildings in the first century. The church is always people, and the church met in people's homes. Lydia was a wealthy Christian who hosted the church in Philippi (or perhaps Thyatira) in her home. Is it thought the host could not speak and had to remain silent? My wife is a very wise and godly woman. If she opens her mouth in church it would be wise for anyone to whom she speaks, male or female, to listen. And if anyone comes to my house and tells my wife to be silent then s/he and I will be having words. I am not saying the congregation in question doesn't have problems doctrinally and/or practically. I am saying this idea women must be silent is not supported by the whole of scripture.

Why should we study the Bible? God commands us to study His Word:
2 Tim. 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Let’s look at some of the word pictures that describe the Bible in the Bible. The Bible is compared to gold and honey. “The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb” Ps. 19:9–10
Ps. 119:103 How sweet are thy words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Jer. 23:29 The Lord said to the prophet Jeremiah, “Is not My word like fire … and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”
Ps. 119:105 The Bible is like a lamp: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”
Ps. 119: 130 The unfolding of thy words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.
2 Pet. 1:19 And we have the prophetic word made more sure. You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
The Bible is like food for the inner person. It is milk.
1 Cor. 3:1–3 But I, brethren, could not address you as spiritual men, but as men of the flesh, as babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food; for you were not ready for it; and even yet you are not ready, 3 for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh, and behaving like ordinary men?
Heb. 5:11–13 About this we have much to say which is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need some one to teach you again the first principles of God’s word. You need milk, not solid food; 13 for every one who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a child.
1 Pet. 2:2 Like newborn babes, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up to salvation
Solid Food
Heb. 5:11–14 About this we have much to say which is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need some one to teach you again the first principles of God’s word. You need milk, not solid food; 13 for every one who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a child. 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their faculties trained by practice to distinguish good from evil
Matt. 4:4 But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
Deut. 8:3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.
Honey
Ps. 19:9–10 the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
God’s Word is also a mirror
James 1:23–25 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who observes his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer that forgets but a doer that acts, he shall be blessed in his doing.
In His parable of the sower, Jesus compared the Word to seed
Matt. 13:1–9 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. 2 And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat there; and the whole crowd stood on the beach. 3 And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, 6 but when the sun rose they were scorched; and since they had no root they withered away. 7 Other seeds fell upon thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. 8 Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears, let him hear.”
Matt. 13:18–33 Hear then the parable of the sower. 19 When any one hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in his heart; this is what was sown along the path. 20 As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. 22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the delight in riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 23 As for what was sown on good soil, this is he who hears the word and understands it; he indeed bears fruit, and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”
24 Another parable he put before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. 27 And the servants of the householder came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then has it weeds?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ 29 But he said, ‘No; lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”
31 Another parable he put before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field; 32 it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
33 He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”
Paul wrote about the cleansing power of the “water by the word”
Eph. 5:25–26 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
A metaphor Jesus also used in the upper room
John 13:10 Jesus said to him, “He who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but he is clean all over; and you are clean, but not every one of you.”
John 15:3 You are already made clean by the word which I have spoken to you.
Keep in mind that water for washing represents the Word of God, while water for drinking represents the Spirit of God
John 7:37–38 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, “If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink. 38 He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.’
The Word of God is also a sword
Eph. 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Heb. 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
In fact, when the people heard Peter preach at Pentecost, they were “cut to the heart” by the Word of God
Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?”

Paul says women can't speak when they are in a church. Women are constantly working in my church. How can they do that if they can't speak? I would reply to that with not everything in scripture has a universal application and some things are specific, and for a specific time and place. I think Paul misspoke.
