Both Calvinists and Arminians believe we will always sin in our lifetime until we die and get our new bodies. That is not the gospel, "the "good news." Romans 1:16-17
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
I see the Bible teaching that when we repent (which Calvinists do not believe in because they are already God's elect and repentance is a "work.") and Jesus gives us His Spirit to empower us, He also takes away our desire to sin so lawlessness is not repeated. This is sinlessness, but NOT perfection on day one. It is justification and sanctification at the same time. Then comes the road to perfection called glorification, not sanctification. Why people are so afraid of those two words sinlessness and perfection is human reasoning. Many ignorantly mock with "sinless perfection" which can be reached, but not when you are only on level one as a baby Christian. People who still struggle with disobeying their conscience are still carnal and have not been born again. That is how I was for the first 30 years of going to church. A carnal unsaved "Christian." Unfortunately I was in the majority of people going to church today.
Good news for the baby Christian:
The New Covenant is different from the Old Covenant in these ways:
Old Covenant of the ministry of death Memorization Keep the letter of the law Responsible to learn all the laws Break one you break them all Death, but those saints trusting in God, He will pass over their sins.
New Covenant - the good news of the Spirit - freedom from sin John 8:32-36 Repent to receive the Holy Spirit Must be born again Levels of the laws are written on our conscience from faith to faith, starting with level one to perfection. As long as you obey your conscience at the level you are on, you are pleasing God and God deems you sinless. Live up to the light you have, Philippians 3:16, even if it isn't all the light there is, or that you'll ever receive. What He starts He will finish to perfection. Hebrews 12:2; Philippians 1:6 Mature in the fruit of the Spirit 2 Peter 1:5-7

Welcome to the Fourm charismaticlady and thanks for the excellent post. Perfection is a matter of the grace of God, and the supernatural influence of the Holy Spirit. Because it is solely on account of the work of Christ that God lowers the demands of the law, and accepts as perfect our obedience which the milder law of the Gospel demands. The ability to render this obedience is due to the gracious influence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Because we as believers constantly need the intercession of Christ as our High Priest, who intercedes for us to secure us from condemnation for involuntary transgressions, which, judged by the law, would incur its penalty. We need to have the Fruit of the Spirit in order to live up to what we have already attained, namely a righteous position in Christ. We should be relentlessly pursuing after Christlikeness. Becoming more like Christ It is loving God with all the heart, soul, mind, and strength. It implies the entire absence of selfishness and the perpetual presence and all pervading influence of pure and perfect love. “I'm not where I need to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be.”

Since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 The express declaration of Scripture that all men are sinners. This does not mean simply that all men have sinned, that all are guilty, but that all have sin cleaving to them. It is a manifest perversion of the simple grammatical meaning of the words “fall short” υπολείπονται των to refer to the past. The verb is in the present tense.

At the end of his life, Paul said he "hadn't attained".... and he was still "pressing".... reaching forward. After decades in the ministry, this same man said... "Oh Wretched man I am". I personally do not understand the desire someone has to pretend they're without sin. Well, I do understand.... but maturity affords us self reflection. Self awareness.

I personally do not understand the desire someone has to pretend they're without sin. Well, I do understand.... but maturity affords us self reflection. Self awareness. I went all night one time without sinning...Then I woke up! But seriously folks, For me when I look at the Lord Jesus Christ washing the feet of the disciples and good old Peter just doesn't get it. I think the blood of Jesus washes us clean from sin, But since we're still in the world our feet get dirty and we need to ask for forgiveness For whatever transgression we might have gotten ourselves into. The Bible puts it this way: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. —1 John 1:9
