Are serial killers demonic possessed? We've all heard that our eyes are the windows to our souls. Every law enforcement officer when interviewed about any serial killer they've had contact with say they can see Pure Evil in their eyes. Ted Bundy after his conviction while awaiting execution and being interviewed disclosed that he heard voices and even talked back to them. Who was he talking to a demonic spirit perhaps? Generally classified as psychopaths or mentally deranged individuals, serial killers are rightly vilified for what they do. But there is, all too often, a pattern connecting them to demonic possession that we so willfully ignore—because it makes us uneasy. But isn't that exactly what Satan wants? Now it is no use considering how we are to fight these forces unless we are aware of something of their nature and the way in which they operate. And so we come back again to this large subject, which can be summed up under the technical term, demonology. I'm interested in this subject, first, because there are so many references in the Bible to these evil forces and powers that there is a sense in which we cannot read the Scriptures intelligently unless we know something about them. And second because it seems to be running so rampant in our society today. It's hard to believe some of the things we see in the news on a regular and daily basis. But in addition, according to the apostle’s specific teaching in Ephesians chapter 6, if we are unaware of these evil powers, we will almost certainly be defeated by them. Ignorance is one of the greatest causes of stumbling, and there are many people who are so ignorant of these forces that they become their innocent and unconscious victims. The Bible tells us to prove and to test the spirits: ‘Beloved, believe not every spirit,’ says the apostle John, ‘but try the spirits whether they are of God’ (1 John 4:1). We are told that there are two types of spirits: first, the Holy Spirit and the angelic powers who are still obedient to God and who do his behest; but secondly, evil forces and powers and spirits. These are extremely able. The apostle Paul tells the Corinthians that the devil is able to transform himself into ‘an angel of light’ (2 Cor. 11:14). He is as subtle and as clever as that. But our God is greater, we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus and strengthens us. Dig Deeper: Satanic Beliefs, Criminal Actions From U.S. Department of Justice

Interesting stuff. I do have a book by Derek Prince "Expelling Demons". And no it's not about getting rid of your in-laws.
“Demons cannot force a person against his will but can cultivate the thought that brings about the action from the will.”
“Opposition to God’s will is Satan’s main objective.”
“Here again the demons know who Jesus is. They know who the servants of Jesus are. We then need to be aggressive in our approach when dealing with demonic confrontation. Satan and his demons know who we are and how we are covered with the righteous blood of Jesus, and know that we are under His protection.”
“So Satan’s demons are designated to carry out Satanic planning. Demonic activity in our world today is nothing more than the work of Satan being carried out by his angels, the demons.”
“Any kind of demonic relationship with a person is indicative of Satanic footholds in their life as well as an introduction to even more intense activity to follow.”

Richard Ramirez is definitely a good example. Adding to his mythology as evil incarnate, Ramirez pledged allegiance to Satan at trial.
His cousin, Miguel Ramirez, was a huge influence on him. A soldier in the Vietnam War, Miguel bragged to a prepubescent Richard about the women he raped and killed during his tour of duty. Then, when Richard was 13, Miguel shot and killed his wife in Richard’s presence.
Miguel Ramirez Could have easily been under control of demonic influences and they could have Entered into Richard.

Then, when Richard was 13, Miguel shot and killed his wife in Richard’s presence. Miguel Ramirez Could have easily been under control of demonic influences and they could have Entered into Richard. I think you are on to something there. Satan is an ancient foe but his forces are not endowed with the wisdom of our God. Even though he's been at this a long time he always uses the same tactics. He comes only to lie kill and destroy. That would fit right in with a serial killer. Our awareness of his tactics and strategies are crucial to combating them. The fact is he is a defeated foe But he still has the ability to roam around like a roaring lion seeking hooey can destroy. So take too lightly his ability to plot and scheme is tantamount to giving permission to be influenced by them. The work of those pesky demons and their tactics and activities is limited to a single aspiration and singular goal. Their desire is to please Satan their ruler and their god. Satan needs them to carry out his objectives since he, in spite of all his powers, is limited, he not equal with God who is unlimited and sovereign. So Satan uses demons to fulfill his wishes, and demons, in turn, are designed to carry them out. They do that by possessing people's minds. I believe a lot of mental illness is caused by this. Especially bipolar where the victim goes from one extreme to the other in the blink of an eye. Since man is Satan’s prime target on earth, his demons, likewise, seek to dominate, control, possess, and defeat us. And how do they do this? Perhaps we should ask, how do they try to do this, for not all men or women succumb to their tactics. The main goal of demons is the same obsessive goal of the Evil One, Satan, which is to thwart and oppose the will of God. Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly. Satan wants to destroy that life. Everything demons do is toward that end. And their father, the Devil, empowers them to work toward that goal. Gary Kinnaman has said it in a unique way, “… Where Satan leads, demons follow.… Together they cooperate in a celestial conspiracy against God, God’s purposes, and God’s people.” He knows that his time is getting short and seems to be ramping up his activities. But we shouldn’t be shocked or dismayed. The world is coming to exactly what Jesus said it would come to, and this actually gives us a lot of hope. Before Jesus returns, evil and wickedness is going to increase in the world. Speaking of the last days, Jesus said: And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. (Matthew 24:12) It's like evil and wickedness or the new normal. It's hard to believe some of the things that are reported in the news. And yet day after day we see more and more that it just become commonplace. So could Serial killers be demon possessed? Yeah buddy!

I picked up a hitchhiker last night. He seemed surprised that I'd pick up a stranger. He asked, "Thanks but why would you pick me up? How would you know I'm not a serial killer?". I told him the chances of two serial killers in a car would be astronomical. But seriously folks, demonic activity in our society is no joke. Why just the other day a serial killer breaks into a couple's house and finds them getting ready for bed. He points a gun at the wife and says, "What's your name?" "Elizabeth," says the woman. "I could never kill you," says the serial killer, tears in his eyes. "My mother's name was Elizabeth." He then points the gun at the husband. "And what's your name?" "Dan," says the husband. "But my friends call me Elizabeth!"

I would say yes, they are. What else can produce pure Evil in human being? Doing the Devil’s Work: 5 Murderers Who Claimed to Be Possessed by Demons
This is a quote from the sister of John Jenkins a 25-year-old Convicted murder from England: ‘he was not really talkative […] when he was looking at her it was not John’s eyes, it was almost as if it was someone else.’I've heard that description along with "Their eyes looked like pure evil" Quite a few times describing serial killers.

Satan is the murderer, the liar and the destroyer among other evils. He can't be everywhere at once, so his evil spirits, demons and wicked host carry out his purpose as well. You are right, ignorance is not bliss, it is dangerous. We have the victory already. If we do not enforce the victory, we will be overcome. We must resist before the devil will flee. If Christians are willing to exercise their spiritual senses, they will soon begin to discover that there are many different symptoms that commonly indicate the presence or activity of demons. Theophilus I got ahold of Derek Prince book "Expelling Demons" and here a little excerpt from it. Psychology normally recognizes three main elements that are associated with the concept of personality. These three elements are: knowledge, will and emotion. It is important to see that all these three elements of personality are found in the New Testament picture of demons. Demons possess knowledge. In Mark 1:24, the demon in the man in the synagogue at Capernaum said to Christ, “I know who You are, the Holy One of God!” In Acts 19:15, the evil spirit in the man at Ephesus said to the seven sons of Sceva, “Jesus I know [acknowledge], and Paul I know [know about]; but who are you?” Demons possess will. In Matthew 12:44, the unclean spirit who has gone out of the man but can find no place of rest, says, “I will return to my house from which I came.” In Luke 8:31–33, the demons in the man of Gadarenes displayed very strongly their will not to be cast into the abyss, but rather to be allowed to enter into the swine. Demons possess emotion. In James 2:19 we read, “Even the demons believe—and tremble!” Another fact that attests the personality of demons is their ability to speak. This is recorded in many passages of the New Testament. From the standpoint of psychology, we normally attribute the concept of personality to anything that is able to express its meaning in intelligible speech. By every standard, therefore, we see that demons display all the attributes of personality. This is of tremendous importance. Christian believers are in no position to deal with demons successfully until they recognize that they are persons, not things. A demon is not a habit or a mental state or a psychological condition. A demon is a person. One means by which the presence or activity of demons may be detected is the supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit called, in 1 Corinthians 12:10, “discerning of spirits.” Many Christians who have been baptized in the Holy Spirit manifest some measure of this discernment, but quite often they do not fully realize the nature of this operation of the Holy Spirit, and therefore they do not make effective use of it. Discernment of this kind needs to be cultivated by regular exercise. For this reason, we read in Hebrews 5:14 of believers “who are of full age [maturity], that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” In the church today there are all too few believers who exhibit this mark of spiritual maturity.

Redeemed Not a bad book, has a lot of good info in it. I like this one better "Demons" by Leonard Thompson What I want to know is... Who let the demons out? How do demons enter men? What channels allow them to become residents in man’s personal being? The nature of these questions I think this is one of the reasons people don't like to discuss demons. But the real frightening and sobering fact is: We open the doors to demons. We, intentionally or unintentionally, invite them in! Even in the case of generational sin, or possible transference, somebody first opens the doors for demonic entrance. I read this today and Ray Stedman's daily devotion posted by Obadiah. If you read this and think about it for a minute, it's a real eye opener. A DAILY DEVOTION FOR APRIL 14TH The Package Deal Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.Genesis 3:7 This account reveals three things that mark the beginning of death, and the proof that this story really occurred is found therein, because these three things are true for every person. When we yield to temptation we experience the pleasures of sin. But what this account forces us to face is that with the pleasure comes an undesirable accompaniment, a fall-out of sin, which we cannot escape. It is all a package deal. Here is spelled out for us the three things that mark the beginning of death. The first one is this: they realized they were naked. They were naked all along, but they did not know they were naked until the fall. Why? Because they had never looked at themselves. Their awareness of their nakedness is a symbolic way of expressing the idea that they experienced the birth of what we call self-consciousness. They saw themselves, and the immediate effect was their feelings of shame and embarrassment. So, like Adam and Eve, we find ourselves making clothes to cover our self-consciousness. This is true at the psychological level as well. This is what lies behind the universal practice of projecting an image of ourselves. That is a form of psychological clothing. It is a way of trying to get people to think of us differently from how we really are. This is why we all find ourselves struggling with the matter of being honest, of being open. We do not want people to see us or think of us as we are. We do not want to spend much time with any one person because we are afraid he or she will see us as we are. The second thing this account shows us is found in verse 8. Hiding is an instinctive reaction to guilt. Here is the first description of a conscience beginning to function; that inner torment we are all familiar with that cannot be turned off, no matter how hard we try. In fact, often the harder we try to ignore it, the deeper it pierces and the more obdurate it becomes. Psychologists agree that guilt is a universal reaction to life, from which, without apparent reason or explanation, all of us suffer. This sense of guilt haunts us, follows us, makes us afraid. We are afraid of the unknown, of the future, of the unseen. But there is still a third aspect of this death revealed here: The Lord said, What is this that you have done? Adam said, Well, the woman that you gave to me, she gave me the fruit, and I ate. It's her fault. The woman said, Well, it's not my fault; it's the serpent's fault. The serpent beguiled me, and I ate. This is the first human attempt to deal with the problem of guilt. This is where blame always comes. Ultimately it points the finger at God and says He is at fault. People are simply helpless victims of circumstance. This is what lies behind our urge to blame each other and pin the blame for our actions or attitudes upon some outward circumstance. To me this explains a lot about our human and emotions and how they got this way. And why we act out the way we do.

How do we distinguish a psychological disorder from demon possession? Most serial killers are narcissistic sociopaths and I think it would be very easy for them to fall victim of demonic Possession. I understand it’s not always clear what motivates serial killers to commit such heinous acts, abnormal psychological processes but severe antisocial tendencies could very well be the start. And since Satan comes only to steal, kill and destroy He finds an agreeable accomplished in a serial killer. I found this to be quite interesting: "Historians tell us that serial killers have existed throughout history. In ancient and medieval times—long before the concept of a “serial killer” entered popular parlance—such murders were often thought to be the work of monsters, werewolves, or witches; when they were caught, many serial killers of the time were accused of (or even confessed to) committing the murders for "supernatural" purposes." From Psychology Today Many times serial killers claim it was divine intervention that forced them to kill, and blame the murders on either God or the Devil, or voices in their head. Serial killers come from all walks of life. They are not killing for gain, they kill to satisfy the urge within, or because they believe that they are doing the right thing.

When prison psychologist Dr. Al Carlisle performed in-depth assessments of Ted Bundy, Arthur Bishop, and other serial killers, he devised a theory about their ability to compartmentalize that helped to explain the psychological dynamics of offenders who were otherwise socially functional. But none of their interviews with him presented a talent for productive investigative Techniques.
My theory is a little different. I believe when Satan took control of them is when they committed their atrocious acts against Humanity. And when he was done with them, for the time being anyway, he left them and they went back to controlling their minds and their bodies and could function normally in society.
Even though they could temporarily function normally they were never free from Satan grip.
