James 1:5
If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
Some Christians are operating with knowledge instead of wisdom. They know a lot of facts about Christianity, but they lack the wisdom of God. The best definition of wisdom I have found is from the Old Testament scholar Tremper Longman, he wrote:
Wisdon is a rich concept and is not easily summarized.... Wisdom is the scale of living. It is a practical knowledge that helps one no how to act and how to speak in different situations. Wisdom tells the ability to avoid problems, and the skill to handle them when they present themselves. Wisdom includes the ability to interpret other people's speech and writing in order to react correctly to what they are saying to us.
The simpler definition of wisdom is this: "doing the right thing without a precedent." The believer who can respond to an unexpected situation or circumstance in the same way Christ will is someone who has biblical wisdom – the mind of Christ
Proverbs 2:10-11
10 For skillful and godly Wisdom shall enter into your heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to you. 11 Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall keep you,
Proverbs 3:13-15
13 Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God's Word and life's experiences],
14 For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold.
15 Skillful and godly Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her.
Proverbs 3:15-18
15 Skillful and godly Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her. [Job 28:12-18.]
16 Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor. [Prov. 8:12-21; I Tim. 4:8.]
17 Her ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast.
Proverbs 8:11
11 For skillful and godly Wisdom is better than rubies or pearls, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. [Job 28:15; Ps. 19:10; 119:127.]
