The Bible is clear that some things are worth fighting for. Truth, by definition, is separate from falsehood. We are to take a stand against false teachers and “contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people” (Jude 1:3).
Our mission statement is as fellows:
Members of Berean Apologetic forum are considerate, motivated by love and not hate, and they respect one another. Because our members are considerate, loving, and respectful, they do not make overly provocative posts, posts which seek to annoy or cause disruption, or posts which personally attack other members out of anger and frustration.
Our members desire to contribute in a positive and loving manner so that this Forum will display the gracious love of God. The above motto on our forum is for the benefit of this community to have a safe place where all faiths and people are welcomed to ask questions, receive answers and express their views freely without hinderance or concern of retaliation. We value your religious freedoms of expression and ideas.
With that in mind we decided to have a place on the forum for posters to have debates that may get a little hot and heavy at times. Such as works vs grace, modalism, Unitarianism, Catholicism, heterodox teachings, non-Christian cults.
Here are a few of the top subjects found in Christan debates:
Abortion. At first, one might think this subject is not so controversial within the church as it is between those in the church and those without.
Gay marriage. Gay marriage and whether it should be allowed in the church is certainly at the top of the list of modern-day controversial subjects.
Women in leadership. The issue of women teaching/preaching in church can quickly become heated. …
Type of worship music. Contemporary or traditional? Hymns or modern worship songs? This is definitely an issue that tends to spark debate within many churches. And the list goes on.k
Please Keep in mind there is a vast difference between a friendly debate and a bitter war of words. Verbal assault, slander, accusation, and perverse speech have no place in the body of Christ (Colossians 3:8; 1 Peter 2:1; Ephesians 4:31). What must unbelievers think when they see Christians slinging verbal mud at each other over minor doctrinal differences?
Ephesians 4:29 says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” So in our consideration of this topic, we must rule out the name-calling and slander that sadly typifies some Christian debate.
