Hi guys, just wanted to get the opinion of brothers and sisters in regards to Science Fiction: I am currently working on a new book and it is science fiction/fantasy, and one of the purposes for writing it is to begin, hopefully, a new career. I have been doing HVAC for over thirty-five years and I am just burnt on it. I'm ready to do something different.
So what are your thoughts on it?
Being a writer has always been my dream. J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis ruined me from an early age, lol.
This book is the first in a series (probably a trilogy at this point) and will not have the typical cursing, sex, or political agendas we can't seem to get away from with Hollywood (even Star Wars!), though there will be death and destruction and, of course—good guys and bad guys. I am also trying to incorporate my Theology into it, and think this is one of the things that makes this story unique.
So again, what are your thoughts? Do you think Christians can write sci-fi/fantasy that involves a realistic look at life and death? I am not up on popular writers these days (concerning Christian Fiction) but it seems that for those who enjoy Sci-fi there really isn't a lot out there for us. It has become popular for the bad guys to be the heroes these days, and in my own creativity there is a return to good guy/bad guy.
God bless.
