You can`t even get saved until you receive the Spirit Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Thanks for this Theard as it led me on a good Bible study. Let me give you (anyone reading) a definition of the baptism of the Holy Spirit that I just learned. You Ready? Ok here goes. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the imperceptible work of God by which the believing sinner is placed by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ at the very moment of his conversion. If you are saved, you received the baptism, because the baptism is what happens at the moment of your conversion when the Holy Spirit places you in the body of Christ. When you received salvation, you got all of the Spirit there is for you to get. The real question is this: Does the Spirit have all of you? You might be surprised to learn that the whole doctrine of the baptism of the Holy Spirit rests upon just eleven passages in the New Testament. But I managed to find a few more. I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Matthew 3:11 I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” 9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Mark 1:8–9 John answered them all, “I baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire Luke 3:16 33 I myself did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. John 1:33 15 As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning. 16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ Acts 11:15–16 for John baptized with water, but before many days you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1:5 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1–4 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:3–4 And you were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. Colossians 2:12 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26–28 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all Ephesians 4:5–6 And the key passage in all of Scripture on this subject is 1 Corinthians 12:13. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. So does that mean; do we mean anything or not?

slyzr "So does that mean; do we mean anything or not?"You mean the world to Him, think John 3:16Because God thinks: 1. You are Beautiful. “And the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your Lord, bow to him.” – Psalm 45:11
2. You are Loved. “The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you." – Jeremiah 31:3
3. You are Precious. “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
4. You are Strong. “Awesome is God from his sanctuary; the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people.” – Psalm 68:35
5. You are a New Creation. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17 6. You are Protected. “He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.” – Psalm 121:3
7. You are Empowered. “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
8. You are Chosen. “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give to you.” – John 15:16
9. You are Family. “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” – Ephesians 2:19
10. You are Mine. “But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” – Isaiah 43:1

slyzrI'm sorry to hear you had such a rough past. But you do have the courage to face the future and it's going to be awesome. “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” JEREMIAH 29:11 Pray this: Dear Lord, we’ve read the end of the Bible. I thought my post was rather short and or reasonable. LOL!!! The reasonable post was one of 10 reasonable posts. I was one post away from having to take my sock off so I could start counting toes, an in your post above, well there goes my sock, but in the post above this one you copied and pasted one of the posts from the earlier 10. I read all 10 - so no great need to repaste them.
I`m pretty sure they are all copy and paste. When you found out your file was to big you broke it up in to ten small ones. I got a bunch of those myself that I had written for my Yahoo group. I don`t use them anymore except as occaisonal reference.
I`ve always had an eye out for a trinitarian church that water baptizes in Jesus name. Haven't run into any so far. I believe that Christians are supposed to be renewing their minds with the truth of God’s Word (Scripture) on a continual basis. We are to encourage each other to do this. Jesus said if you continue in my Word, you are my disciples indeed (John 8:31). So the more we put Scripture on the inside of us on a continual basis, the more we will know the truth and the truth will set us free. We have to be transformed by the renewing of our mind to know the perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2).
As for the content of my posts: The content is Scripture based and to get one to believe the Scriptures in what they say. We should all be encouraging and reminding others of the faith that was given to us by God (via the Bible). Some of what I have written (with Scripture) is copied from my previous work, and other words are not. I do try to speak to people. But there really is no real inventing the wheel here (When it comes to the teachings in the Bible). God’s Word still remains the same.
As for Trinitarian churches that baptize in the name of Jesus:
Well, I am not into the traditional church gatherings anymore because I believe that the biblical way of fellowship was in believer’s homes whereby all believers shared the Word, and sang to the Lord, etcetera. While I have been water baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I am seeking to do so again in the name of Jesus by believers who believe on the core biblical foundational doctrines I hold to.
My core biblical foundational doctrines that I believe a Christian should accept are:
1. The Godhead (Trinity). 2. Initial Salvation, and Final Salvation. 3. The Bible Alone + the Anointing to Understand It. 4. Believers today are not under the 613 Laws of Moses as a whole (But they are under the commands that come from Jesus and His followers). Believers do not have to keep the Sabbath, circumcision, holy days, dietary laws, animal sacrifices, etcetera. 5. Being loving with each other in Christ and in loving even our enemies. 6. We must confess and forsake sin (Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:9, 1 John 1:7). 7. Without holiness no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14-15).
I am praying for just one believer (who believes the above) to even to baptize me in a safe river or lake, etcetera and I would be fine with this.

You made no mention of the indwelling Holy Spirit which we can do nothing without and who empowers us to do things for the kingdom of God.Without the Holy Spirit your 7 points are unattainable except in a superficial legalistic way. I further believe people are inperfect and that God is a father to us to help us through and in overcoming our weaknesses. From your perspective such thinking is making allowence for sin and I disagree with you on that. You contend that renewal comes from reading scriptures. It does not, renewal only comes by renwal of the Spirit. I pasted your verse below, you can only put on the new man by walking in the Spirit and it is also He who renews your mind. Simply reading the Bible is no more effective than following the Law, no renewal in those things. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Here is the true renewal, Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Here is the true renewal, Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; It was a list off the top of my head and not an exhaustive list (Note: But this point you bring up would be my #8 on my list). So yes. I believe you cannot obey without the Spirit. Actually, I believe all three persons of the Trinity can abide within the faithful believer. Jesus says without Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). I have always been a strong believer of that verse. In fact, any good we do is merely God doing the good work through us. We cannot claim to do true good without God.
As for my posts being too hard to absorb because I write too much: So what do you do when you read and study the Bible or when you read a long Christian article? My posts are nowhere near as long as the chapters in Scripture or some Christian articles that are really good. I also personally don’t see my writings as that long in our current discourse. I have written extremely longer posts before that were almost book length and our discussions don’t even remotely come close to being long as long as my book length posts (in my humble opinion). In all my years in talking online with other Christians: They do not normally complain about the size of my posts (When they are at the current length I have given to you).
So in my opinion: This sounds like a personal preference or taste that does not fit the norm. While this may not be you: I know some people find it difficult to read things that are lengthy because they find it intimidating or they may not be able to pay attention for that long or they feel overwhelmed by all the information. Again, I am not saying that is you, but it just is not normal in my discussions for other believers to complain about the length of the posts I have given to you. I have been discussing on Christian forums for about 10-11 years now. Most have not expressed the same concerns you have given.
Anyways, please take no offense to anything I have written here. I love you in Jesus Christ and only want the best for you in the Lord.

I believe that Christians are supposed to be renewing their minds with the truth of God’s Word (Scripture) on a continual basis. We are to encourage each other to do this. Here is the true renewal, Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; As for the renewing of the Holy Ghost in Titus 3:5:
I believe this happens only when we respond to God’s Word in faith (in accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior and or believing the gospel message in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
I see Titus 3:5 as referring to what happens in our Initial Salvation (after we accept Jesus). While we do have a new heart with new desires in the new birth by the Spirit (in our initial salvation), I believe our continued walk with the Spirit in living a holy life is after we are saved by God’s grace (See: 2 Thessalonians 2:13, and Romans 8:13). Believers must learn to cleanse themselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God (2 Corinthians 7:1). This can only be by the power of God working in their life to help them to put away sin and to do good works, and to live holy. In fact, grace gives us the ability to do the work (1 Corinthians 15:10).

All jokes aside, your posts are hard for me to absorb becauase there is often just too much. FYI I believe in all 7 of your points. Where you and I differ is in the spiritual. You made no mention of the indwelling Holy Spirit which we can do nothing without and who empowers us to do things for the kingdom of God.Without the Holy Spirit your 7 points are unattainable except in a superficial legalistic way. I further believe people are inperfect and that God is a father to us to help us through and in overcoming our weaknesses. From your perspective such thinking is making allowence for sin and I disagree with you on that. You contend that renewal comes from reading scriptures. It does not, renewal only comes by renwal of the Spirit. I pasted your verse below, you can only put on the new man by walking in the Spirit and it is also He who renews your mind. Simply reading the Bible is no more effective than following the Law, no renewal in those things. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Here is the true renewal, Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; As for your claim that I said that renewal comes from reading the Scriptures:
Well, I did not exactly say, “renewal comes from reading scriptures.” That’s what you said. Jesus said, “If… my words abide in you” (Which is different) (See: John 15:7). An atheist can read the Bible multiple times and never receive what God’s Word says. An atheist does not have the words of Jesus abiding in them because they don’t believe God’s words by faith. I am talking about Romans 10:17. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of God. If we believe Scripture, and we act upon it, it will change us. If we continue to remain or abide in the Word continually… by putting new verses into our minds over and over (BELIEVING THEM by faith that they are true), then we renew our minds with the truth of God’s Word. God is not going to just change you one day without you doing anything. We have to have faith and that can only be in His Word. The Scriptures are Holy Spirit inspired and they are profitable for doctrine and instruction in righteousness so that the man of God may be perfect unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17). So you have to keep renewing your mind with God’s Holy Word by abiding in His Word. Jesus said if you abide in my words you are my disciples indeed. To abide means to remain or continue. But I see it as more than this. It means to internalize these words to our core in belief in what God says. We have to keep going over the words of our Lord and put them on the inside of us (by faith). David basically said he hid God’s Word in his heart so that he may not sin against God (See: Psalms 119:11). Get an audio Bible if you have to and just keep getting into the Word and memorize as much as you can and believe the verses (and don’t speak against them). keep listening to the same verses over and put them inside of you by faith. You can also put verses down on 3 x 5 cards that God is talking to you about and memorize them, and then keep going over them. Internalize them. Make the words in Scripture a reality for your life by faith.
Side Note:
Most often what happens in Christianity is that folks tend to just blindly believe their Pastors, and or a Christian article, or a video, or a Bible commentary and they really don’t test it with the Word of God (to see if it is true). They just blindly follow what others say and do not study to show themselves approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15 KJB). The sad reality is that many tend to believe what others say over what the Bible says. They have a theology built upon men and not by asking God for the help in understanding what His Word says.

I could criticize some of it but I`m not going to, I criticized you enough back at CF and don`t have a lot of ambition to do that here. The admin would just erase my posts anyways and I don`t like that. LOL! I got one to toss out though. I`ve asked you about this before and your answer wasn`t satisfactory, Hebrews 12, 5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Everybody likes the Job story when they feel sorry for themselves but God doesn`t go around beating his kids with a whip for being good. By logic we can determine from this passage that every child of God will do and say things God doesn`t like. Romans 12:5-8 reveals a profound lack of perfection that would just throw you into hysterical fits and God is very patient with people. He doesn`t throw his babies out with the bath water. We are all just children in this life and children make mistakes. 1 Peter 4 17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? That`s you highlighter in all your glory, just barely saved, almost didn`t make it.
