God is a Trinity of persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father is not the same person as the Son; the Son is not the same person as the Holy Spirit; and the Holy Spirit is not the same person as Father. They are not three gods and not three beings. They are three distinct persons; yet, they are all the one God. Each has a will, can speak, can love, etc., and these are demonstrations of person-hood. They are in absolute perfect harmony consisting of one substance. They are co-eternal, co-equal and co-powerful. If any one of the three were removed, there would be no God.
Jesus, the Son, is one person with two natures: Divine and Human. This is called the Hypostatic Union. The Holy Spirit is also divine in nature and is self-aware, the third person of the Trinity.
The word "person" is used to describe the three "Persons" of the Godhead because the word "person" is appropriate. A person is self-aware, can speak, love, hate, say "you," "yours," "me," "mine," etc. The three Persons in the Trinity demonstrate these qualities.
What is so hard to understand about God being Triune? The Father is not the Son. The Son is not the Holy Spirit; and the Holy Spirit is not the Father. God is a Trinity (Tri-Unity) of 3 Persons who are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is not three gods nor is the Trinity three beings. We call them "Persons" because each one of Them have a will, speak, teach, love, receive praise, prayer, share the same Glory, etc. These are all characteristics of person-hood. They are of one substance, nature, essence or Being. You cannot have the Father without the Son, the Son without the Father, The Son without the Holy Spirit or you would not have the God according to Scripture, you would have a false god or what is known as an idol.
hope this helps,

The Triune GODHEAD can be difficult. While I agree with your post, I am here to ask questions . Can one person of the GODHEAD being self aware do something the others don't know? Can one love or hate while another does not? My personal answer would be no. Can one "will" something that another does not? My answer would be no and that they are in perfect harmony. seems to me the "WILL" of all three would be for the ONE. thoughts?

The reality that there is only one God is both taught and presupposed throughout Scripture. Probably the clearest and most direct teaching and the one I love the most is the well-known Shema in Deuteronomy 6:4: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.”
This was the basis of the command that followed:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5).
Because Jehovah was the only God and there was no other, Israel was not to divide their loyalty for Him with any other claimed deities. Monotheism means exclusive worship of and obedience to the one true God.
For me that is easy to understand and believe. But when you add the Trinity to the understanding of who God is, it's easy for a lot of us to become confused. That is why sound biblical teaching on this topic is so important.
One question which deserves attention is the status of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament references. He is so often overlooked or hardly mentioned. Here are some usual forms of expression for Him “the Spirit of God” or “the Spirit of the Lord.”
(Here is where it can get confusing.) Is this to be regarded as the same as the Holy Spirit? Might it be merely God’s spirit, or might it be a personification of God’s working? If these are valid possibilities, are we justified in using the Old Testament texts as evidence in constructing our understanding of the Holy Spirit and thus of the Trinity?
I think we are.
At least one New Testament reference indicates that the Spirit of God in the Old Testament is to be identified with the Holy Spirit. In Peter’s speech at Pentecost he explains the coming of the Holy Spirit in the dramatic fashion evidenced by speaking in tongues.
He indicates that this is the fulfillment of what Joel had prophesied: “I will pour out my Spirit” Acts 2:17
Then there is "The Day of the Lord" Joel 2:28–29
28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. our sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
So, to me we are dealing with the same person, and are justified in using the Old Testament references to God’s Spirit in formulating our understanding of the third person of the Trinity and their all three working together as one.

This is a challenging question.
Those who posit God only has one will and one mind, are in fact logically the same as Unitarians and Modalists, in my opinion—you cannot have a person who does not have his own will/mind, it is fundamental to the definition of a person. Many theologians seem to be so scared of the accusation of Tritheism or Polytheism, that they are actually willing to sacrifice the Persons of the Godhead to make them more like modes or aspects. Persons require individual wills and consciousness, that is what defines a Person, an identity that can be separated from another person and is self-aware.
We have many indications and hints that the Three Persons of the Godhead do not completely share their wills and minds, even if they are in perfect harmony and agreement. You cannot say "Not my will but yours be done," if they are the same will—that's logically impossible and nonsensical. You are in fact saying "Not my will, but mine be done," and it's incoherent. Only Jesus is said to have atoned for our sin, suffered for them, and died—that necessitates the the Father did not die, and the Spirit did not die. That necessitates a difference in conscious experience among the Persons. In other places, the Son is said to not know something the Father knows, and the Son is also said to have a name no one else knows. Blasphemy against the Spirit is said to be a more serious sin than blasphemy against the Son. Unless they are different Persons, this makes no sense.
Part of the problem is an improper understanding what Polytheism really means—it means multiple gods, not multiple persons within god. That's an extremely important distinction—Polytheism is not defining a single God with multiple Persons, it is defining multiple rivaling gods.
What we have under the fear of Tritheism is a constant inroad and sneaking back of Unitarian and Modalistic thought.

I think God is one person. He came to earth as Jesus to teach, set an example, and die for our sins. He is the Holy Spirit when we talk with him.

"One of the hardest things for Jewish people to deal with when it comes to Yeshua is the idea that he could be God in human form." Yet the Old Testament makes it perfectly clear that the Messiah would be divine (Isaiah 9:6 and other verses). Even Micah 5:2 shows that the one to be born in Bethlehem was in fact eternal.

"God is a Trinity of persons". we must disagree with that statement, and here's why. Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. God is a plurality here in the verse. but is it of PERSONS? no, because Isaiah 44:24 clearly states, "Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;"
How can God as three person who supposed to be Omni-present be alone, and by himself?
